Autumn

Way They Made Me Feel

Posted on

Fake interactions

Over leftovers

Had me standing out in the cold

Blowing phantoms from my mouth

With autumn papers dancing at my feet

Heels sinking in frosty soil

Gazing at remnants of a moon

Faded like the warmth inside

My Black Pumpkin Carriage

Posted on Updated on

colorless

Sleepy lips are kissed awake by a steaming cup

       The rosemary tea vapor

Wisps like fingers

       Tickling eyelids with warmth

Icy water droplets garnish

The autumn window that shows your car

Black

A reflection of your beautiful mind

I love even at its darkest

Pull to the curb

       Careful to hide my tear

I touch my cheek to my mother’s

  As a farewell

On my way out

Of the comfortable heat into the nippy air

My stone hands still gripping the cup

Soft electronic pulsations rumble from your car

Waiting for me like my black pumpkin carriage

I watch myself in its glossy frame

A wingless, fragile girl

       I slide in beside you

The music lowered

 To light notes of calm

The black descends

       Down the leaf falling street

To a nameless place

The cup between my colorless knees

My leg feels your hand settle with reassurance

       The silence

Cozy and welcoming

       No need to say anything

We both share the feeling of being old yet young

A tired youth that has felt

too much
